Confirmation

 Parents & Youth: 

Most often when we refer to the word “Confirmation” in the church we are referring to that time in a young person’s life when they are ready to claim the faith that was promised to them by their parents at their Baptism.  Most often Confirmation is offered to young people during their middle school years.  Most often a Confirmation Class is offered for a period of weeks culminating in a service of worship when young people join the church.  

At Christ Presbyterian Church this is what we do:  

First – we teach confirmation on a 3-year cycle during Sunday School.  What this means is that it is vitally important that our middle school youth attend Sunday School regularly. 

Second – Our Youth Program is designed to faith building and nurturing.  What this means is that it is vitally important that our middle school youth are actively involved in our youth program. 

Third – during the spring of a young person’s eighth grade year, a period of six weeks is set aside for them to prepare and share their personal statement of faith.  This includes a Confirmation Retreat, a Breakfast Meeting with the Session, and a Service of Worship.
